In Theory… You are only human
Hey there, it’s been a while since our last real game progress report. So now is the perfect time. π
We’ve been doing some stuff and then some more stuff. And then even more stuff. This time we’re going over a little bit of the UI and cockpit interface.
Cockpit you say? You might or might not have picked up from our debut trailer that you are playing actually as the human inside the G.E.O mech suit. The cockpit has a twin role in the game. It serves as both a menu platform and as a gameplay element.
As we’re really focusing on taking you to another place we didn’t want to have a separate menu lobby. Once you launch the game from your desktop you are in the game world. You are inside the mech. All the game’s menus are accessible through the monitors in the cockpit. You select by looking at the desired choice. A small cursor appears on the monitors when looked at to help choose the right menu item. We are still working to find the right sizes for the menu items to ensure ease of use. You switch from internal view (cockpit) to external view (mech) by pressing Esc. Note that the cockpit is a work in progress and showing the same work in progress content as a place holder on all the monitors.
The gameplay elementΒ is a floating (holographic) display and it has the same kind of UI. Not going to disclose just yet how the scanner works. π We’re keeping the design very simplistic and practical.
All of the screens are area lights which light up the cockpit and the lighting changes according to the content of the screens. It produces a really cool and immersive effect and it saves us the trouble of setting up lighting to match the contents.
And now getting back to doing more stuff. π
I can’t wait (actually I can)! You have tested cockpit with rift, haven’t you?
Looks great!
Q: in the debut trailer, you showed a timelapse. Will those be in the game or was it just to showcase the time travel feature?
We’re patiently waiting for this one. I love these immersive games.
I wish I could do stuff like that someday.
ETA for alpha please
Really looking forward to the game. Thank you for making it, and thanks for the updates!
Hey! Trying to fire up the update frequency a bit. π
Yeah, it has been three years has it not?.
Any plans to stop milking the cow and get it out?.
Maybe you need a real business model to get it out of your garage so it can become the real monster game we all been expecting?.
I mean, this is all becoming quite anti-climatic, little bit like “lost”, we all remember how that played out.
One thing I know is, with technology advancing so fast and coding process and the graphics design and implementation so challenging, you may wanna hire a business model specialist, third year in and graphics still look like the first trailer we have seen, and then so many games coming out with an impressive level of quality, it is not so much about the quality imagery but the game mechanics.
I hope you have a CFO a COO and some A grade team of coders to tackle this cause frankly, it is getting stale.
Yeah a long voyage it has been. We feel your pain. Hope the game offers some remedy once it is finally out. π
Why does this feel like another take the money and run project. Just like many of the early access games on Steam.
Hey man, sorry for keeping quiet. Taking and running is not in the plans, has never been. Besides, we couldn’t run since we’re still having our grey matter reconstructed and still sitting on the car. It’s a slow process. π
So many people dissing the project in this comments section for some reason. We know you guys are a two-man team, and the work you guys have done so far is astounding. Keep up the good work, looking forward to release!
Thanks man! π
an update would be nice?
I feel like it would break the fourth wall, if the game menu would show up on the cockpit monitors honestly.
Yeah we’ve been going back and forth with this issue since immersion is what we’re aiming for. So this feature is not locked in yet.
Hi guys,
An update would be nice, please. Even if it’s only to say how hard you’re working on the game. We all get nervous when we hear nothing at all for a couple of months.
Thanks.
Hey! Yeah, sorry about being quiet, no real excuse other than that we’ve been working hard on the game. π More activity on the way π
looks very good! π
I’m reaaaaally excited for this guys, and I love that you’re taking your time with it to make sure it’s released as close to perfect as possible (although I want it nowww :P)
I think this game definitely needs more publicity than it’s getting. Much hype.
Cool man! The hype machine will be set on fire again as the release gets closer. π
It is wonderful to be here with everyone, I have a lot of knowledge from what you share, to say thank you, the information and knowledge here helps me a lot
