In Theory… VII

Yo yo yo!

Ok so we’re about to dive into the last phase of proofing the gameplay and preparing the crowd funding campaign. We will focus on those solely, so the next post we update will be the gameplay trailer and campaign start \o/. We still have a lot to do but it’s so close we can almost taste the crunch (pun intended). :)

To make the wait a lot harder here are some wallpapers from the first trailer. :D

See you on the other side!

  1. Give us a launch date. And knowing trailer length will be nice. :)

    Forget a launch date.
Give us a well-polished and finished game (as you seem to have in mind for your long term already)
I’ve been following this blog since it’s first post, (as I’ve followed dozens of indie games before then) and this looks to have the direction, forethought, and design to end up to be truly recognized and come up as a well-finished game.

I am extremely excited, and will continue to follow the information trickle.

Here’s a thank you from a very enthusiastic indie gamer,
    -Shirow

    • That’s the plan :)

Great! The Black Mesa team always had the same thing in mind and I’m pretty sure the mod wouldn’t have turned out quite as good as it is if they planned for a certain release date and then finished everything hectically. (And yes I know they haven’t got the Xen chapter in the game yet)

Anyways, that’s the way to go, guys! Nice!

…but thank you :) I am very excited to this monument of a game you two have been able to produce. Congratulations!

    Good luck, gentlemen.

What you’ve shown us so far looks much more promising than anything made at Futuremark… Perhaps people work best in groups of two.

AWESOME WORK guys! This is exciting news!

Regarding the monitor displays in the screenshots and video, how do you render the monitor text so realistically? Looks great!

BTW have you ever considered contacting CD Projekt RED to see if they have any advice / publisher connections that might benefit your project? Reset seems exactly like the type of game that CPR would develop or sponsor.

    I really like this!
I hope this project will grow BIG :D

Will this project be Open-Source. When you talk about crowdfunding it’s only for the Game right ? not for your Game Engine ?

If you start a crowdfunding campaign to make your Engine Open Source, you have my money ;) !

BGE, Irrlicht, Crystal Space, Panda3D, JMonkey,…. They are so many Engine but none of them has any hope to give commercial-quality games. It’s so sad we all split our efforts in the open source world instead of joining them into a common project.

One of the only example where everybody agreed on developing one software together is Blender. And now there’s already a 1h30 film entirely made in Blender in development.
I sure that if your project becomes Open Source, it has all its chances to unite everybody around it, like Blender did.

If your project goes commercial there will be competitors, on the Open Source side there’s only unfortunately nobody.

(And with a crowdfunding campaign you might even get more money than if you go commercial and have to face competitors).

    Good luck with your project.

I have one little question that’s been poking at me, not sure if you’d say this or not, but, will it be in 1st person or 3rd p.?

  2. These are awesome! You guys really need to setup a Google+ and start promoting on there it’s now the second largest social network!

  3. I’ll definitely be supporting this project with a pre-order if I can! It would be awesome if you guys put this game on steam too have you considered that?

  4. Also you should really get on Google+ it’s the second largest social network now and it’s awesome for promotion! I guarantee this game would make it in the What’s Hot!

I can’t believe how only two people not only came up with a incredibly good idea but the means to produce and able to make it happen. MAJOR PROPS! I bookmarked your page to open in my browser every time I open it it also opens up, so I refresh every day for more than a few times. I can hardly wait for some gameplay footage.

Which crowd sourcing site/group are you considering?

My 3 1/2 year old who actually thinks he’s also robot keeps asking when the Robot will wake up. :)

Is there a place to sign-up for updates?

    Thanks!

  5. I really appreciate this post. I’ve been looking all over for this! Thank goodness I found it on Bing. You’ve made my day! Thanks again!
